Board of Directors




Mr. Kapil Kapoor, an Indian national, is our Chairman and non-executive Director. He obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from the University of Delhi and a Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM) from Indian Institutue of Management ("IIM"), Ahmedabad. Until recently May, 2013 Mr. Kapoor was the Chief Operating Officer for Timex Group USA, Inc. Before that he has been the Managing Director of the publicly held Timex Group India Limited from Oct 2000 and until Oct 2009 was the Senior Vice President of the Asia-Pacific Region for the Timex Group. He also continues to serve as Vice Chairman of Timex Group India Limited Mr. Kapoor started his professional career in 1987 with Nestle India Limited. He later worked with Bausch & Lomb, where he was part of the start up team that launched RayBan sunglasses and the Bausch & Lomb vision care range in India; and subsequently went on to manage the overseas marketing territories of Russia, Ukraine and East Africa in addition to the SAARC region. In 1996, Mr. Kapoor relocated to Thailand as the Country Manager for Bausch & Lomb and was promoted to Commercial Director in 1998 with regional responsibility for South East Asia and the SAARC region.




Sanjeev Bikhchandani, an Indian national, is our Founder and Executive Vice-Chairman. Mr. Bikhchandani obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from St. Stephen College, Delhi University in 1984 and a Post Graduate Diploma in Management ("PGDM") from IIM, Ahmedabad in 1989. His work experience includes an advertising position at Lintas India Limited, a marketing position at HMM Limited (now known as Glaxo SmithKline), and a senior management position at CMYK Printech Private Limited (owner of The Pioneer newspaper). Sanjeev, along with his partner Hitesh Oberoi, won the "Ernst and Young – Entrepreneur of the Year" award in 2008 for Business Transformation. He also won the Dataquest Pathbreaker Award & the Teacher's Achievement Award for Business in 2008. Sanjeev is a frequent speaker on entrepreneurship at conferences and at business schools.




Hitesh Oberoi, an Indian national, is our Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer. Mr. Oberoi obtained a Bachelor of Technology degree in Computer Science from the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi in 1994 and MBA from IIM Bangalore in 1996. At IIM he featured in the Director's Merit List. Mr. Oberoi has set up our sales and marketing operations and has been instrumental in launching new products and services at Naukri.com and has also helped set up the Jeevansathi.com, 99acres.com and Shiksha.com & other new businesses. Prior to joining us, Mr. Oberoi was the Regional Planning and Distribution Manager (North India) for the Ice Cream Division of Hindustan Lever Limited, the Indian arm of Unilever Plc, where he worked for almost four years. Hitesh, along with his partner Sanjeev Bikhchandani, won the "Ernst and Young - Entrepreneur of the Year" award in 2008 for Business Transformation.




Mr. Arun Duggal is a Visiting Professor at the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad where he teaches a course on Venture Capital & Private Equity. Mr. Duggal is a Senior Advisor to TPG Capital, a major Private Equity firm headquartered in San Francisco.

Arun Duggal is Chairman of Board of Directors of Shriram Capital, Shriram Transport Finance Company, Shriram Properties, Shriram City Union Finance, and Shriram EPC. He is also Chairman of Bellwether Microfinance Fund, which provides equity capital to promising Micro Finance organizations. He is the Vice Chairman of International Asset Reconstruction Company. He is an experienced international Banker and has advised companies and financial institutions on Financial Strategy, M&A and Capital Raising.

He is on the Board of Directors of Jubilant Energy. Netherlands (Chairman Audit Committee), Patni Computers (Chairman, Audit Committee), Fidelity Fund Management, Ecron Acunova, Zuari Industries, Info Edge (Chairman Audit Committee), Dish TV, Mundra Port and Mortice Limited (Singapore) (Chairman of Audit Committee). He is a member of the Investment Committee of Axis Private Equity. He was erstwhile Chairman of the American Chamber of Commerce, India He was on the Board of Governors of the National Institute of Bank Management.

Mr. Duggal is involved in several initiatives in social and education sectors. He is a Trustee of Centre for Civil Society, New Delhi, which focuses on improving the quality and access of education to students especially for the poor.

Mr. Duggal had a 26 years career with Bank of America, mostly in the U.S., Hong Kong and Japan. His last assignment was as Chief Executive of Bank of America in India from 1998 to 2001. He spent ten years (1981-1990) with the New York Corporate Office of Bank of America handling multinational relationships. From 1991-'94 as Chief Executive of BA Asia Limited, Hong Kong he looked after Investment Banking activities for the Bank in Asia. In 1995, he moved to Tokyo as the Regional Executive, managing Bank of America's business in Japan, Australia and Korea. From 2001 to 2003 he was Chief Financial Officer of HCL Technologies, India.

A Mechanical Engineer from the prestigious Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi, Mr. Duggal holds an MBA from the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmadabad.

He is a US national and Overseas Citizen of India. A theatre enthusiast, he also plays tennis and enjoys trekking in the Himalayas. He is married to Dr. Rita Duggal and they have two daughters. They live primarily in New Delhi, but also spend some time in their homes in Kasauli (Himachal Pradesh) and New York.




Sharad Malik received his B. Tech. in Electrical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, New Delhi and his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Computer Science from the University of California, Berkeley.Currently he is the George Van Ness Lothrop Professor of Engineering at Princeton University and the Chair of the Department of Electrical Engineering. Previously he served as the Director of the Keller Center for Innovation in Engineering Education at Princeton University (2006-2011) and the Director of the multi-university Gigascale Systems Research Center (2009-2012).

His research focuses on design methodology and design automation for computing systems.He has received the DAC Award for the most cited paper in the 50-year history of the conference (2013), the CAV Award for fundamental contributions to the development of high-performance Boolean satisfiability solvers (2009), the ICCAD Ten Year Retrospective Most Influential Paper Award (2011), the Princeton University President's Award for Distinguished Teaching (2009), as well as several other research and teaching awards. In 2009 he received the IIT Delhi Distinguished Alumni Award.

He has served on the Technical Advisory Board for several hi-tech companies with successful exits: Flarion Technologies acquired by Qualcomm, Jasper Design Automation acquired by Cadence and Axys Design Automation acquired by ARM.




Saurabh Srivastava, an Indian national, is a non-executive Director. He has obtained a Bachelors of Technology degree from the IIT, Kanpur and a Masters of Science degree from Harvard University, USA. Mr. Srivasatva is one of India's leading IT entrepreneurs, angel investors and venture capitalists. He chairs or sits on the board of several companies. He founded one of India's most trendsetting IT companies, Xanza Plc.(previously IIS Infotech). Xansa plc. is a USD 600 million IT company listed on the London Stock Exchange. Mr. Srivasatva chairs Infinity, India's leading seed-stage VC fund as also the Indian Venture Capital Association; and sits on the boards of several of India's central and state governments' VC funds. Mr. Srivasatva is a co-founder and past chairman of NASSCOM, the Indian software industry association, President of The Indus Entrepreneurs ("TiE"), Delhi and on the global board of TiE, which is the world's largest organisation devoted to entrepreneurs. He is on the advisory board of the Imperial College, Business School London, an adjunct professor of entrepreneurship at IIT, Mumbai. The IIT, Kanpur has conferred on him the "Distinguished Alumnus" award.




Bala Deshpande is working (since 2008) as Senior Managing Director with New Enterprise Associates (India) Pvt. Ltd based in Mumbai. Prior to this, she was Director of Investments at ICICI Ventures where she had been since 2000. At ICICI Venture, she used her operational experience to identify opportunities for investment and to play a strategic role in shaping the future of investee companies. She launched leading e-commerce ventures like Traveljini and BillJunction and was a Director at Subhiksha, Pantaloon Retail, Air Deccan, Nagarjuna Construction, Welspun, TechProcess Solutions and Info Edge (India) Ltd. Her private equity experience has seen the full cycle from nurturing young companies to executing over ten exits including IPO, buy-back, strategic sale, and capital market divestments. Prior to ICICI Venture, Ms. Deshpande worked with leading multi national companies such as Bestfoods, Cadburys, and ICI. She was a part of the Strategic Planning Team at Bestfoods and was also nominated for the Women Leadership Forum held at Bestfoods, New York. Ms. Deshpande has a master's degree in Economics and Business Administration from Jamnalal Bajaj, Mumbai.




Dr. Naresh Gupta is a B. Tech in Computer Science from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur, where he was named a Gold Medalist. He holds master's and doctorate degrees in computer science from the University of Maryland, College Park. He has been widely known as a computer science expert in the areas of shape, motion, image understanding, and AI research. His Ph.D. thesis, "Recovering Shape and Motion from a Sequence of Images," was nominated for the ACM Distinguished Dissertation award.

Dr. Naresh Gupta is Managing Director of Adobe's India research and development center that he started from concept in 1997 and has since grown to be the second largest Adobe's R&D campus worldwide. Dr. Gupta is also responsible for the Print and Classis Publishing Business Unit at Adobe. In this role, he oversees product marketing and development for Adobe's standalone print, Web publishing and e-learning tools such as Adobe® PostScript®, Adobe® Contribute™, Adobe Captivate™, Adobe Technical Communications Suite software. His organization serves a broad and established base of customers who are publishing content on paper, electronically or over the Web.

Prior to joining Adobe, Dr. Gupta served as principal scientist and director of the applied artificial intelligence (AI) group at LNK Corp., a company funded by the U.S. Department of Defense to develop solutions for image and pattern recognition, target tracking, data mining, data fusion and compression.
